Expanding Our 1000 Items Donation Drive

Hi Friends,

Exciting news! We’re expanding our clothing donation drive, and we need your help to reach a big milestone. Our goal? 1,000 articles of clothing to help those in need, not just in Africa but right here in the Greater Baltimore area too. 🎉

You might remember when we launched this drive with a focus on T-shirts, but we’re now accepting all kinds of clothing—so whether it’s a warm jacket, a pair of jeans, or a cozy sweater, it can make a difference. Every piece you donate brings warmth, comfort, and hope to someone in our community.

How You Can Contribute:

  1. Look through your closet: Gather any gently used clothing items that you no longer need. Remember, it’s not just T-shirts—we’re collecting everything from tops to bottoms, and even accessories like scarves and hats!
  2. Pack them up: Once you’ve gathered your donations, pack them securely for shipping.
  3. Mail your donations to us: Send your package to MACONA, 7500 Montpelier Rd. Suite 105-334, Laurel, MD 20723. If you include your shipping receipt, we’ll add that to your tax-deductible receipt as well. Just be sure to include your email address so we can send you your tax receipt.

Another Way to Make a Difference:

We are thrilled to share that MACONA’s partnerships with Microsoft, TechCon365, and PWRCon. Through these collaborations, MACONA participates in conferences and events, where we are often featured in the Community Hub booth—a shared space with Microsoft Communities. This platform allows us to engage with a broader audience, raise awareness about our cause, and collect donations directly from event attendees.

For instance, at a recent TechCon365 event in Washington D.C., we received an outpouring of support in the form of clothing donations and financial contributions, check out our post here Mimi African Charities (MACONA) TechCon365 DC -A Heartfelt Thank You. These partnerships are vital as they not only help us reach our donation goals but also amplify our impact through corporate matching opportunities provided by companies like Microsoft through Benevity giving portal, more on that here Your Benevity Giving Portal – Mimi African Charities (MACONA). If you or your organization are attending these events, please stop by the Community Hub booth to learn more about how you can support MACONA.
